FAKE MESSAGES ON BEHALF OF BULGARIAN POSTS

Bulgarian Posts Plc reminds that fake e-mails and SMS messages are sent on behalf of and/or with the company’s logo, sometimes in the form of surveys or games, in which it is announced that the recipient will receive a “prize” - a mobile phone.

For this purpose he/she must confirm participation by providing personal data (e-mail address, debit or credit card details, etc.) and pay a fee.   Many e-mails and SMS messages contain details for getting in touch with Bulgarian Posts Plc. The messages inform that there is a shipment for the customer /sometimes a random number is specified/, and he/she has to pay a certain amount of money for its receipt, for customs clearance, correction of address or redirection of the shipment due to the recipient being absent, etc.

At the same time, he/she needs to provide bank card details, etc. Other messages ask customers to send a copy of an ID, photo, etc.   A fraudulent scheme aiming to collect sensitive personal data is also being circulated on behalf of the company. The advertising message states that goods from undelivered shipments to Bulgarian Posts’ customers are being drawn at symbolic prices.

The messages are sent in Bulgarian or foreign languages. In some cases, the name of Bulgarian Posts and Bulgarian Posts’ e-mail address [email protected], which is intended only for receiving e-mails, are indicated as the sender of the e-mails and SMS messages. Bulgarian Posts Plc does not send e-mails from [email protected]. Please note that customers cannot receive authentic messages from this e-mail address.

Fake SMS messages are sent from phone numbers of real subscribers of mobile operators. Bulgarian Post has nothing to do with the fraud.

A link in some messages leads to a copy of Bulgarian Posts’ website, where the customer is invited to fill in personal data. Bulgarian Posts draws attention to the fact that the address of the company’s official website is www.bgpost.bg. Addresses such as www.bgpost.org and any others are fraudulent.

Bulgarian Posts Plc draws attention to the fact that the company does not send these messages, does not conduct surveys, lotteries with undelivered goods or games, does not give out prizes, does not require by e-mail or SMS on-line payment of delivery or customs clearance fees, and under no circumstances requires debit or credit card details for the delivery, a fee for this delivery, as well as sending copies of identity documents and photos by e-mail. The fees owed to Bulgarian Posts and state receivables are paid at the post office upon delivery of the shipments. An identity document is provided on site at the post offices when services are provided. Lotteries and games that are not announced on the company’s official website do not exist.
