It was created in 1969 by the International Monetary Fund as non-current international reserve assets. It is used in receiving tranches from the IMF, as well as in many other international agreements.
Apart from International Monetary Fund , Special Drawing Rights is also used in international postal services, airline baggage insurance, and also in payments between mobile (GSM) operators for roaming services.
For the needs of Bulgarian Posts Plc, the SDR rate is determined once a year and the calculated rate is the reference rate for international payments throughout the year. The SDR is used by Bulgarian Posts for international items when calculating insured value and when paying compensation.
